Windemere believes in well-rounded riders and offers a wide-range of lesson programs in both English and Western equestrian sports. Focus on one area of riding, or become a cross-discipline rider, learning from our qualified instructors and safe, skilled lesson horses.
We help riders of all ages and skill levels achieve their program goals. Our trainers will work with each student to develop a customized program for where the student is and wants to go in their riding.
Teresa Pennington is the founder and head trainer at Windemere Equestrian. She has over 30 years of professional riding instruction experience. Teresa's training program focuses on the health and safety of her students and horses, teaching correct equitation and riding skills and for those students who are interested in showing, the development of a riding program to meet their showing goals. In addition to instruction, Teresa is a recognized horse show judge.
Joan Werner is a full-time instructor and trainer at Windemere. She develops her student's riding skills in multiple disciplines including hunter, western ranch/trail. Joan takes her students to local, regional and national level shows. Joan is a large promoter and supporter of the ranch horse circuit. She holds her judge's card in many different associations.

Whether you're looking to learn the basics, want to develop with your horse, or have showing ambitions, Windemere has a training program that will meet your needs. We offer horse training, riding lessons and show support.
Breaking, learning the basics, and ongoing training for boarder's horses are all part of our full-service training program. Your horse will receive regular riding throughout the week by our qualified trainers. We work with both English and Western horses.

Windemere is a showing barn, and our students actively show year-round. Our clients show at the local, state and national level. Our trainers are by your side at each show to help you achieve success in the showpen. Windemere participates in ApHC, ARHA, and Hunter/Jumper shows.
Looking for horseback riding lessons in Jacksonville, Florida? Windemere has been proudly serving the Jacksonville community for 30 years. Our clients can learn to ride English and Western under the skillful instruction of our trainers, getting the opportunity to ride our string of safe and talented lesson horses and ponies. Students should provide a hard-soled shoe and appropriate attire. Your lesson includes access to our schooling equipment and helmets. (We do encourage the purchase of your own helmet however)
Located in northeast Florida, Windemere Equestrian Center is a full-service facility that resides on roughly 18 acres. Windemere offers a 24-stall indoor barn, a 12-horse barn, a covered wash-barn, 2 large arenas with outdoor lighting, a full course of fences, and spacious turnout. Our trainers are Teresa Pennington and Joan Werner.
Windemere is mostly known for its strong involvement in the Appaloosa breed but welcomes all breeds. The farm is competitive on the ApHC circuit, hunter/jumper, ARHA and specializes in training youth and non-pros.
